The Event

48th ASFA International Invitational — an ASFA All-Breed Lure Trial.

Saturday, October 24 & Sunday, October 25, 2026

Couch Ranch, 24512 S. 4350 Rd., Vinita, OK 74301 (Region 4)

Host: American Sighthound Field Association

Permission granted by ASFA for the holding of this event under ASFA rules and regulations. Scheduling Committee Chair: Samantha Duryee.

Trial Hours

Trial hours (Central Daylight Time): 5:30 AM until completion.

Roll call & inspection: promptly at 6:00 AM — ALL DOGS, NO EXCEPTIONS.

Workers' hounds accepted for early inspection upon arrival, beginning one half hour before roll call.

Stakes split into tentative flights Friday, October 23 at 5:30 PM at the field.

Eligibility (Overview)

To be eligible, a hound must — prior to the close of entries (25 September) — have:

  • Earned at least 20 lifetime ASFA points (or equivalent in its country of residence); or
  • Be an AKC (or equivalent foreign) Field Champion of Record in another lure-coursing sanctioning organization; or
  • Have placed in a Regional Invitational (with competition).

Singles and LCI entrants must have earned 20 lifetime ASFA points. Entrants in breed stakes must have earned the 20 points running against competition in their specific breed's stake — points earned in Singles do not count toward breed-stake eligibility. Provisional Stake entries need one 1st placement or two 2nd placements (with competition) in the Provisional Stake.

Full eligibility, registry and proof requirements are in the Stakes tab and the premium PDF.

Non-Regular Stakes (LCI & Singles not eligible)

Breeder Stake: Two hounds bred or co-bred by the same individual. Both must be entered in a regular stake (Open, FCh, Veteran). Combined scores; highest wins the Breeder Stake Award.

Kennel Stake: Two hounds owned and living with the same person. Both must be entered in a regular stake. Combined scores; highest wins.

Generation Stake: A stud dog or brood bitch plus one offspring of that dog. Both entered in a regular stake (need not be owned/bred by the same person). Each parent pairs with one chosen offspring; an offspring may pair with one or both parents.

Bench Champion Stake: For any hound eligible for a regular stake that is an AKC, CKC, or ASFA-approved international show champion of record. A copy of the championship certificate must accompany each entry. ASFA does not recognize the UKC show champion as of Jan. 1, 2022.

For Breeder & Kennel: entries may be the identical pairing, but each dog may only be entered once in each stake. Hounds are named at the time of entry.

Gillette Stake — Saturday Only

Run following Best-in-Field procedures. The eligible hound in each breed with the highest qualifying combined score in the Field Champion or Veteran Stake on Saturday is randomly drawn to run in the Gillette Stake. Run on Field B; no additional entry fee.

Eligibility — a hound must have ALL of:

  • Be an AKC, ISWS, or foreign bench champion of record;
  • Be an ASFA Field Champion; and
  • Be entered in the Field Champion or Veteran Stake on Saturday.

Requirements must be met prior to close of entries; proof of bench title (photocopy) must accompany the entry — no exceptions. A separate Gillette entry form must reach the FTS by the regular closing date. ASFA does not recognize the UKC as a foreign-based registry for Bench Champion (as of Jan. 1, 2022).

Best in International Invitational — Sunday Only

Run Sunday following Best-in-Field procedures. All Best of Breed winners from Saturday and Sunday are eligible, provided they were entered and received qualifying scores running in prelims and finals both days.

The winner of Best in International Invitational is credited with winning a Best in Field.

Eligible Breeds

Regular stakes (purebred): Afghan Hound, Azawakh, Basenji, Borzoi, Cirneco dell'Etna, Greyhound, Ibizan Hound, Irish Wolfhound, Italian Greyhound, Peruvian Inca Orchid, Pharaoh Hound, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Saluki, Scottish Deerhound, Silken Windhound, Sloughi, Whippet.

Provisional Stake breeds (purebred): Chart Polski, Galgo Español, Magyar Agár, Portuguese Podengo (Pequeno), Portuguese Podengo (Médio & Grande). Must be individually registered by the appropriate registry.

All entries must be individually registered with AKC (ILP/PAL included), NGA, FCI, UKC, an ASFA-recognized foreign / ASFA-approved registry, or possess a CRN from SPDBS.

Tips for Mailing Entries (Help the FTS)

  • Mind the closing date — everything is due on or before 25 September 2026.
  • Write clearly; catalogue accuracy depends on correctly spelled hound and owner names.
  • Include your phone number and email in case of questions (email preferred).
  • Confirm the top of each entry form shows "48th ASFA International Invitational" and the correct date (Sat 24 or Sun 25 October 2026).
  • Separate multiple titles with commas so they print correctly.
  • Be sure entries are signed; entry forms must be 5½" × 8½".
  • For Kennel/Breeder/Generation stakes, send all paired dogs' regular entries together; include the $10 per stake per day.
  • Gillette: attach proof of championship to the Gillette form and meet all listed requirements.
  • Bench: check the box on the entry form, fill the Bench form, include the championship certificate copy and $10 per day.
  • Cut entry forms apart; group Saturday then Sunday, ordered Open, FCh, then Veteran.
  • Do not send with signature required and not by certified mail — such entries will not be accepted.
  • To confirm receipt, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope or postcard.

Schedule & Running

Running Procedure

  • Stakes split into flights, in public view, at 5:30 PM Friday, 23 October, if any one stake has 20 or more hounds.
  • All hounds run twice — in trios if possible, or braces — unless excused, dismissed or disqualified.
  • Singles and LCI run alone twice in the trial.
  • Hounds not present at roll call are scratched after a five (5) minute grace period.
  • Bitches in season, hounds with breed disqualifications, and lame hounds at roll call / inspection are excused and entry fee refunded.
  • Monorchid, cryptorchid, spayed or neutered hounds may be entered. Muzzles are not required.
  • A gas/battery-powered continuous-loop lure machine is used on each field; backup equipment available. Lure: highly visible plastic strips.
  • The course is reversed for finals and run-offs at the judges' discretion.
  • $5 fine for any loose hound on the field not taking part in a course in progress.
  • No one except Field Committee members on the field without express permission of the Field Trial Chairman.
